NBA legend Michael Jordan is celebrating his upcoming 60th birthday with a $10 million donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Jordan's donation is the largest in the 43-year history of the Arizona foundation, which aims to fulfill the wishes of critically ill children between the ages of 2 and 18. Jordan, who holds six NBA championship rings, has been working with the nonprofit since 1989, CNA quoted Agence France-Presse as saying.
According to a statement from the Hope Foundation, Mr. Jordan hopes the donation will have an impact and encourage others to follow up with donations to the foundation.
"It has been an honor to work with the Hope Foundation for the past 34 years, helping to bring smiles and happiness to so many children," Jordan said in a press release.
"It would be the best birthday present ever to see other people join in and support the Wish Foundation so that every child can experience the magic of wish come true."
Since 1989, Jordan has granted "hundreds" of wishes to children around the world, according to the Hope Foundation
