Former Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner, a free agent in the offseason, signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Red Sox and will move to Boston to continue his career.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Turner, who won a world championship with the Dodgers in 2020 after moving from the Mets in 2014, failed this season and showed signs of decline, leading the team to decline its $16 million option to become a free agent and move to the Red Sox.
In 2022, Turner batted.278 with 13 homers and 81 rbis in 128 games. He batted.154/.313/.154 in four games in the playoffs. Rumors are that he will move to first base or designated hitter after moving to the Red Sox. Fill in for J.D. Martinez's move to the Dodgers.
