NBA / 2 Time At The Helm Of The All-Star Game Gold Nuggets Coach Malone And Lebron James Back Together

Michael Malone of the Golden Nuggets will coach for a second time in the All-Star Game, leading the Lakers' "Team James" with LeBron James as captain, and getting together with Nikola Jokic.

This year's NBA All-Star Game will be held on Feb. 20. The coaching team will be the team with the best record in the two weeks leading up to the All-Star game. Malone and Golden Nuggets will lead "Team James," while RAMS star Giannis Antetokounmpo will be coached by Team Sertic, who leads the Eastern Conference.

Malone, who also led "Team James" to a win in 2019, noted that every year he tells his players, "There are teams that are desperate for a break in All-Star week and can't wait to get to Cancun. No, we keep our eyes on the prize money and make sure we play all the way to off day."

This year, the team will be "drafted" by two captains again, but whether Malone will be brought to Jokic again will not be known until the last minute. In a rule change this year, James and Antetokounmpo will not pick their teammates until before the All-Star Game. The draft will be held in the first half hour before the All-Star Game on Sunday.

Malone became the third coach in Golden Nuggets history to lead the All-Star game, joining Larry Brown in 1977 and George Karl in 2010.
