NBA/Attacked By Brooks Balls Mitchell: That's The Kind Of Guy He Is

Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell was attacked in the lower body by Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks in the third quarter of a game against the Grizzlies on Tuesday. Brooks and Mitchell were ejected after the attack. Mitchell also said after the game, Brooks and I have been playing against each other for years and it is clear that he is one of those players.

With just over five minutes left in the third quarter, Brooks fell to the floor after a blocked layup attempt, but he flipped around and threw a shot at a standing Mitchell, prompting Mitchell to throw the ball at Brooks and yell at him, prompting players from both teams to rush in and get both players ejected.

After the game, Mitchell also directly criticized Brooks as a dirty player in a press conference, demanding that the league must punish him, "That's who he is, we've been in this league with him for many years, me and him have had a personal confrontation, people have been brewing for years, you saw today, it's nothing new."

Mitchell stressed that the league should pursue further disciplinary action against Brooks to prevent other players in the league from getting hurt. "It's not just about me, it could happen to other players in the league," he said.

Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff defended Mitchell's right to speak up for his rights. "Everybody has the right to stand up for themselves, and I think Mitchell has done that. I'm proud of him.
