With the Warriors in a shaky start to the season and unable to open an eight-game losing streak on the road, Klay Thompson has been subjected to criticism and even calls for him to play as a backup and replace Jordan Poole as a starter. While choosing to shout back at the questioning, Thompson also doesn't mind admitting that he no longer has the skills.
"The best part of my career was in 2019, and I know I can't get back to that, but even if I'm 90%, I'm still a very good player, and we're still a very good championship team," Thompson said, adding that a series of injuries after 2019 kept him out for two seasons, and even after this year's championship, he was afraid to practice early in the summer.
"I don't have any doubt in my mind that I can come back. I was there when we won the championship last season. I don't have any doubt that we can come back together, but words are not as good as actions, and if I have to say anything more, you can't take away from what I've done."
