The San Francisco Bay Area will host its first Major League Taiwan Day event. The Taiwan Association of Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the T-League announced that after A long period of planning and arrangement, the "Taiwan Day" event will be held on the 26th at the home of the Major League Baseball Oakland Athletics (referred to as A's, also known as the Oakland Athletics team).
In addition to the kickoff by Lai Mingqi, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Affairs Office in San Francisco, there will also be a commemorative jersey with the words "Taiwan Day" attached to the ticket, and a pre-game party "Tailgate BBQ" in the parking lot before the game for ticketed fans, with a free drink and hot dog for each participant. In addition, it also provides Taiwanese delicious snack drinks and wheel cakes for fans to buy.
Organizers pointed out that the Bay Area's first major League Taiwan Day event was co-sponsored by the Northern California Taiwan Fellow Association, the San Francisco Bay Area Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the T-League. This year's event is expected to attract hundreds of Taiwanese residents. In addition to the director's kick-off, there will also be Taiwan black bears interacting with the audience to promote Taiwan. The club has also announced on its official website that Lai Mingqi, director of Taiwan's Scripture Office in the San Francisco Bay Area, will serve as the kickoff guest.
Zhang Zhengbang, chairman of the Silicon Valley branch of the Democratic Progressive Party, who is also a longtime supporter of Taiwan and a sports enthusiast, pointed out that the brewing of the Grand Alliance Taiwan Day in the Bay Area has been prepared for a long time, and it has finally been implemented this year, which is very happy and good news for Taiwan Americans. In fact, the Bay Area major League Baseball and the San Francisco Giants (San Francisco Giants), originally hoped that Taiwan Day could be held in the Giants, this year for some reason first held in the A's, hoping that the future can also be held in the Giants Taiwan Day.
In fact, Taiwan Day events have been held in Major leagues for more than 10 times. The New York Mets' Taiwan Day, for example, is the oldest and largest celebration of Taiwanese culture among the 30 Major League teams. On Taiwan Day, there will be a combination of art and cultural performances, advertising, game and parent-child activity booths, so that fans from different regions can know Taiwan. The Met has invited directors Ang Lee and Wei Tec-sheng, as well as sports athletes Yani Tseng and Yen-Hsun Lu and other celebrities to kick off.
At last year's Mets Taiwan Day, when Hsiao Mi-qin, the representative of Taiwan in the United States of the Republic of China, kicked off the game, and the Taiwan No. 1 jersey accompanying the ticket encouraged buying, a record 2,350 themed tickets were sold, setting a record for the most available Taiwanese in a Major League Baseball game.
The organizer called for welcoming the folks who love baseball and support Taiwan to attend the Taiwan Day event on the same day to jointly introduce Taiwan to the mainstream and show Taiwan's culture and friendliness. Please contact the organizer for tickets:
