Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Taylor Fritz of the United States 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 on Friday to advance to the last four of the US Open. This is also the 47th time Joshuai has reached the final four of a Grand Slam career, surpassing Federer's record.
Jokovic said after the match: "It is expected that people will support the home players, there is no problem. I like the atmosphere here, I am happy with it and I thrive on this energy." Jokovic and Fritz have won all eight of their career confrontations.
"I've been playing this course for many years and I'm looking forward to another match in a few days," he said. "Every time I step on the court, it's a huge opportunity. At my age, I don't know how many more chances I'll get."
His next opponent will be the winner of Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton.
American Coco Gauff has reached the final four of the US Open for the first time in her career. The 19-year-old needed just 68 minutes to beat Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko 6-0, 6-2 in the shortest women's singles match at this year's US Open.
Goff also became the first American teenager to reach the last four of the US Open since Serena Williams in 2001.
