More than 1.5 million tickets have been sold for the 2023 Women's World Cup as of Monday, according to FIFA.
According to FIFA, the buyer of the 1.5 millionth ticket, Maria Strong, was celebrating her son's 12th birthday when she and her family bought tickets for the Group G match between Argentina and Italy on the 24th and went to the match.
Strong, her husband and three children were also invited to meet FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Infantino gave them a gift -- Strong and his family could attend all the rest of the World Cup's games in Auckland.
"It will be great to meet the family who bought the 1.5 millionth ticket, a family from Auckland with a great passion for football and we are delighted to be able to invite them to all of Auckland's upcoming World Cup matches." "Infantino said.
"We haven't watched much football before, but we really enjoy the sport, especially the atmosphere of the football stadium, and we will be back." "Strong said.
