England, the favourites to win the Women's World Cup, beat Australia 3-1 on Saturday with a goal from Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo to set up a showdown with Spain in the final.
England, who have won the European women's football championship and failed to reach the semifinals at the last two World Cups, reached the final for the first time, the Central News Agency quoted Agence France-Presse as saying.
Manchester United women's player Tooney took a 1-0 lead nine minutes before the break with a shot into the net from inside the penalty area.
Australian star Sam Kerr scored a long shot from 30 yards in the 63rd minute of the second half to tie the game at 1. But eight minutes later, England striker Hemp forced his way into the penalty area and took advantage of Australia's defensive error to break the gate and help his team take the lead; Russo scored again with four minutes left in the game to add an insurance point and make the score 3-1.
England will face Spain, who beat Sweden 2-1, at Sydney's StadiumAustralia for the title on Sunday.
