In Game 1 of the National League Division Series, the Dodgers had six hits, one less than the Padres, but they distributed them well enough. They scored five runs in one inning and three in three innings to win the first game 5-3.

Trea Turner scored first with one out in the bottom of the first inning, and a double by Will Smith and a single by Max Muncy gave the Dodgers another run.

The Dodgers started the third inning with Turner's double, scored on Smith's double with one out, followed by Munsey's walk, followed by Gavin Lux's double with two outs, followed by Trayce Thompson's walk to load the bases. Cody Bellinger hit a grounder to the first baseman for an error, allowing the Dodgers to score their third run of the inning.

Dodgers starter Julio Urias, who allowed just one hit in the first four innings, ran into severe turbulence in the fifth, giving up a leadoff single to Wil Myers, followed by a single to Jake Cronenworth and a double to Kim Ha-seong with no outs at second and third. The Padres converted runners into runs on ground advances and sacrifice hits.

Ullias caught the third out of the inning and finished five innings with 79 pitches, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out six to pick up the win.

Padres starter Mike Clevinger lasted just 2.2 innings, giving up six hits, three strikeouts, two four walks, five earned runs and four earned losses.
