Warriors star forward Draymond Green, who left the team after hitting teammate Jordan Poole, was confirmed by head coach Steve Kerr to return and not miss the opening game of the new season against the Lakers. Kerr admitted that the situation was indeed the biggest crisis since he joined the Warriors. But people still get through it together and make decisions that are best for the team.
A video of Green hitting Pohl during practice went viral recently, and although he apologized and left the team shortly after the incident, at one point it was rumored that Green would be out indefinitely, Court confirmed that Green will rejoin the team for the season opener.
Kerr revealed that the team consulted with players about Green's punishment after the incident, including Ball, who chose to move forward and work with Green back on the court, believing Green could repair the damage he caused. "Even if he breaks the trust in this case, we will continue to believe in him because he deserves it, and so does the rest of the team."
In addition, many fans applauded James Harden for the way he worked on his conditioning this summer, even taking a big pay cut to help the 76ers strengthen. Harden said he's not thinking about individual performance, but ultimately trying to win a championship.
"I had the option to opt out next summer and get a better offer from the Sixers or another team," Harden said. "It was the right decision, not only for myself, but for our organization, and it gave us a great opportunity to put the right pieces of the puzzle together."
"It's great to have stats, but whether I'm averaging 22 or 28, I think it's more important that I have an impact on the game every night," he added. "To be honest, I don't think about my stats. I'm averaging 20 points a game, I'm averaging 20 points a game, I'm averaging a good percentage and a good seed, or I'm averaging 28 points a game in the same situation, it's the same thing. The goal is to win the championship."
