The Yankees have no way back in the AL Division Series. Ace Gerrit Cole gave up two runs in seven innings in a 4-2 win over the Guardian on Monday, and will return to New York for Game 5 on Tuesday, which will advance the Yankees to the AL Championship Series.

The Yankees, who had won 1-2 in the first three games of the Division Series, started the game in the first inning against Cal Quantrill, with Gleyber Torres stealing second base on a single and Anthony Rizzo scoring the first run of the game.

Josh Donaldson hit and Harrison Bader hit a 429-foot two-run shot to left center in the second inning, the third in Game 4 of the series to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.

The Defenders opened the scoring in the third inning, when Austin Hedges drew a walk, Amed Rosario and Jose Ramirez singled to drive in a run, and Josh Naylor made it 2:3 in the fourth on a 405-foot shot to center field.

The Yankees moved to second and third on a single by Aaron Judge and a double by Rizzo in the sixth before scoring a run on a sacrifice fly by Giancarlo Stanton to take a two-run lead into the game.

Cole GAVE UP ONE RUN IN 6.1 INNINGS OF HIS DEBUT AGAINST THE ASTROS ON Tuesday, AND MADE ANOTHER QUALITY START ON Sunday, ALLOWING TWO RUNS AND SIX HITS ON 110 PITCHES IN SEVEN INNINGS. He STRUCK OUT 16 IN THE TWO GAMES, HELPING THE YANKEES TIE THE GAME AND KEEP THEIR CHANCES OF ADVANCING TO THE American LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES.

Contrell, who gave up four runs in five innings in his first start on Friday, gave up three runs and four hits in five innings against Cole in four days off to lose his second straight playoff game.

The Astros advanced to the American League Championship Series by eliminating the Mariners with three straight wins on Wednesday, and will host the Yankees and the Astros in Game 1 of the SERIES on Sunday.
