Starting by left-hander Patrick Sandoval in the second game of a three-game series, the Angels gave up three runs on three hits in the first inning and left after 4.2 innings. Joey Gallo's solo shot in the sixth inning gave the Twins a 4-1 lead.

Facing Twins starter Louie Varland, Otani made it 2:4 in the sixth inning when he hit a 94.2 mile high four-seam ball over the wall in right-center field for a 414-foot Homer. Wallander was grounded and touched, and the Twins decided to switch pitches. Jovani Moran took over and got three straight outs, not allowing the Angels to drive again.

The Twins then added an RBI run in the seventh when Trevor Larnach grounded a triple down the right-field line with first base loaded. Second baseman Brandon Drury bobbled a throw. Larnach watched the ball whizz by behind him as he dived for third base. The record was a triple and an error, a bat that added two runs to the Twins.

Otani, who allowed one hit and struck out two in four, will switch to a two-hitter on Tuesday to try for his sixth win of the season against the Twins.
