Rumors about whether the title-winning pairing of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving might reunite have been swirling throughout the season. Especially after the Lakers were swept by the nuggets in the Western Conference championship game, the rumor mill has become the focus of speculation.
According to Bleacher Report writer Andy Bailey, he posits a deal that would be enough to dissuade James from retiring. The deal: Los Angeles would send D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura and a 2029 first-round draft pick to the Mavericks for Irwin.
Since all three players will be free agents, the deal is bound to be a sign-and-trade. Of course, the viability of the deal still depends on what Irwin thinks. If he does leave Dallas, at least the Lone Ranger will have some leverage back.
Lakers reporter Jovan Buha of "The Athletic" has noted in the past that James pushed for Ervin at least twice, and that was without sacrificing Davis. The report also said a healthy Irving focused on the court could significantly increase the Lakers' competitive ceiling.
