Scottie Pippen, the former second-in-command of the Bulls dynasty, said on the show recently that he thinks LeBron James is the most statistically powerful player of all time, but he's skeptical about whether he'll ever be the best.
"When LeBron retires, he'll be the greatest statistical player in NBA history, unrivaled. But does that make him the best player of all time? That's up for debate."
James officially surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league's all-time leading scorer this season and is on track to become the first player ever to reach 40,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists. In addition, James is the first player in playoff history to surpass 8,000 points.
In a career that spans 20 years, more than 1,000 consecutive double-digit scoring games and holds the record for the youngest scoring milestone at any stage, James, 38, is piling up all sorts of mind-boggling numbers along the way. The scary thing is that it is still not clear that he is in deep decline.
Even so, Pippen doesn't think James' achievements will make him a GOAT. "I don't think there will ever be a 'greatest star' because we play a team sport and you can't win by yourself."
In addition, Pippen recently called Michael Jordan the 'worst' teammate on a show.
"I saw how he played before I came in, and you saw the way he played," Pippen said. "He was a terrible player, a terrible teammate. He was one-on-one all the time, terrible shot selection.
Pippen had complained in the past about Jordan's "Last Dance" documentaries, saying he had all the glory and fame, and even criticized Jordan's egotism and selfishness in a later book.
