South Korea's Son Heung-min trained for the national team for the first time today, wearing a protective mask after several days of recuperation following surgery on his face ahead of the World Cup on November 21.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Son Heung-min arrived in Qatar on Monday (local time), making him the latest South Korean player to arrive. After arriving in Qatar, he began to practice with his South Korean teammates. Son is wearing a black protective mask, and a "7" is written in white on the left side, which represents Son's number 7.

"I'm not a doctor, so it's hard to say when I'll be able to play," Son said when asked about his return schedule after training. "In this situation, I will do my best, but it is difficult to say that I can play every game."

"From the fans' point of view, it may be too much, but football players play in a situation full of risks. I just want to bring happiness and hope to the fans. I am willing to take the risk," Son said.

Son also mentioned that the material of the protective mask is very light and it should not break. "I trained with a mask on before I came to THE national team, BUT THE weather here is different from England, it is quite hot, so I sweat a lot today," he further revealed.

South Korea did not make it to the round of 16 last year, but they managed to amaze the world by beating Germany 2-0. South Korea is in Group H with Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay. The first match is against Uruguay on November 24 at 9 PM Taiwan time.
