Serbia's Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Toronto Masters at the last minute to rest after a five-set defeat in the Wimbledon final.
The Toronto Masters is the only ATP Tour event to be held in Canada and the 36-year-old Wimbledon had been due to prepare for the North American hardcourt schedule but decided to withdraw.
"I always enjoy my time in Canada, but after discussing it with the team, we believe this is the right decision." The four-time winner also thanked tournament director Karl Hale for understanding his decision. "I'm really looking forward to coming back to Canada and Toronto and playing in front of the fans," he said.
Christopher Eubanks, the American bass star of the surprise Wimbledon show, will replace Nessie, who has had a number of breakout shows in London, Including 12th seed Cam Norrie and 5th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece were defeated by him.
Heil said he was disappointed Jokovic was not playing: "He is an incredible player and we know the fans will be keen to see him play at Sobe Stadium." Haier also added that although the small players are absent, there are still many good players attending, and 41 of the top 42 players in the world will participate.
