Lakers star LeBron James scored 27 points against the Pelicans on Thursday, leaving him 36 points shy of breaking Jabba's career record of 388,387 points. His return to Los Angeles to face the Thunder on Wednesday could be the day he sets the record.

James, 38, has been rewriting records this season, becoming the player to score at least 40 points against 30 NBA teams in January and fourth on the all-time assists list last week. After scoring 27 points on 10-of-22 shooting against the Pelicans, he reached 38,352 points for his career and broke Jabba's 39-year scoring record in the fastest game.

With his career points total in the spotlight, James still stressed that the biggest focus is winning, saying, "Play the right way and see what happens." The Lakers won their fifth straight road game, 126-131, and the Pelicans stopped a 10-game losing streak. These 5 away games, James in addition to the Nets rest, the other 4 games have 3 out 40 minutes or more, yesterday after the game did not shy away from saying tired, but also added: "I will be ready for the next game."

James has now scored 37 or more points in nine games this season, and the Lakers could make a difference when they return home to Oklahoma City, where they will continue to face the Bucks on Saturday, another time to take the lead
