The San Francisco Bay Area will host its first Major League Taiwan Day event. The Taiwan Association of Northern California, the Bay Area Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the T-League announced that after long planning and arrangement, the "Taiwan Day" event will be held at the home of the Oakland Athletics (A's, also known as the Oakland Athletics) on Monday.
In addition to the kickoff by Lai Mingqi, Director of Economic and Cultural Affairs of Taipei in San Francisco, there will also be a souvenir jersey with "Taiwan Day" attached to the ticket. Before the game, fans will be provided with a pre-game party at "Tailgate BBQ" in the parking lot, where a free drink and hot dog will be provided to each participant. In addition, it also provides Taiwan - style delicious snack drinks, wheel cake for fans to buy.
The Bay Area's first Major League Taiwan Day event is co-sponsored by the Northern California Taiwan Association, the Bay Area Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the T-League, organizers said. This year's event is expected to draw hundreds more from Taiwan. In addition to the director's kickoff, there will also be Taiwan black bears interacting with the audience to promote Taiwan. The team also confirmed on its official website that Lai Ming-chi, director of Taiwan's San Francisco Bay Area Office, will tee off at the game.
Zhang Cheng-bang, chairman of the Silicon Valley Branch of the Democratic Progressive Party, who is also a long-time supporter of Taiwan and a sports enthusiast, pointed out that the plan of Grand Alliance Taiwan Day has been planned for a long time in the Bay Area, and it has finally been implemented this year, which is very happy and good news for the Taiwan-Americans. In fact, the Bay Area Major League Baseball team and the San Francisco Giants, which originally wanted Taiwan Day to be held at the Giants, held it at the A's first this year for a reason, hoping to have Taiwan Day at the Giants in the future.
In fact, there have been more than a dozen Taiwan Day events held in Major leagues. For example, the New York Mets' Taiwan Day is the oldest and largest celebration of Taiwanese culture among the 30 major league teams. On the day of Taiwan Day, fans from different regions will be able to learn about Taiwan through a combination of art performances, advertisements, game booths and parent-child activities. The Met has invited directors Ang Lee and Wei Tech-sing, as well as celebrities such as athletes Yani Tseng and Yen-Hsun Lu to kick off.
At last year's Mets Day in Taiwan, Hsiao Mi-qin, the representative of Taiwan in the United States of the Republic of China, threw a pitch and received a jersey with the Taiwan No. 1 as part of the ticket sales. At that time, a record 2,350 themed tickets were sold, setting the record for the most Taiwanese people to enter a Major League game.
The organizer urged that all baseball lovers and Taiwan supporters be welcome to attend the Taiwan Day event to introduce Taiwan to the mainstream and show the culture and friendliness of Taiwan. Please contact the organizer for tickets:
